About the Artist

Todd Silver is an abstract painter based in Los Angeles, California. Working primarily with acrylic paint, heavy mediums, and raw textiles, he builds tactile, heavily textured compositions on canvas and wood panels.

Silver’s visual language is deeply informed by structural patterns, balancing the rigid grids of urban architecture against the asymmetrical, fluid shapes found in organic nature. He draws tactile inspiration from the structural weights of mid-century ceramics and the repeating rhythms of woven textiles. He builds physical depth through thick impasto applications and incised mark-making, creating works that bridge the gap between painting and low-relief sculpture.

His practice builds upon the heavy, emotional geometries of Sean Scully, the rhythmic, gestural lines of Lee Krasner, and the structural, assembled power of Louise Nevelson and David Smith.
